Technology - Why is the Pre-Summit survey important?

Filling out the Pre-Summit survey in your HAS application will allow us to give you insight about attendees based on correlations between the survey and your poll answers. An example might be a discovery of different perceptions by those with similar titles but different geographies. Completing the survey is required before you can interact with the application.

Technology - Are mobile devices allowed?

Yes. Use of mobile devices during sessions isn't just encouraged, it will be an integral part of the summit analytics experience and we expect you will consistently use your device in every session. By the way, we will have multiple charging solutions available throughout the summit so you can stay charged.

You will be able to download the Healthcare Analytics Summit application upon arrival. We will have a team of Genius Bar staff who will help you download and install the application on your Apple iOS or Android OS device. Please note that you do need to be running Apple iOS 8.0 or Android 4.4.1 Kit Kat or above. If you have a different device see the analytics bar for information. Android users enable download from outside the marketplace. Go to settings > security > device administration > check the ‘unknown sources’ box.

Technology - How do HAS 16 app questions and voting work?

This is a nerd’s take on a popularity contest. Using the power of the HAS 16 app, submit your questions to the presenter, then vote for your favorites. Only the most popular questions will be addressed. Even Steve Urkel could win this one.

Technology - Why is the HAS 16 app important?

The HAS 16 app is important for many reasons.  First, you can collectively engage with each speaker by answering polling questions in each session and then see your results presented as part of the presentation. Second, you can give feedback by using the “applause” feature and submit questions ahead of time for the question and answer period.  You can also vote on the top questions in order to help prioritize which questions get asked of the speakers.  Third, you can access the entire summit agenda on your app, making it easy to choose your personalized agenda.  Fourth, you can connect with other summit attendees and exchange contact information. Fifth, you can accumulate game points by participating in all of these activities, making yourself eligible for daily prizes and our overall grand prize.

What is the 80’s Carnival Fun and Games Evening Reception?

It starts Wednesday, September 7 at 9:00 PM and includes playing vintage video games (Pong, Pac Man, Donkey Kong) on the giant, mammoth HAS 16 screen, carnival games (skeeball, ring toss, coin toss), and French caricature artists drawing individual and team pictures.

Content - When are the HAS 16 Runs?

A 6-mile run will take place on Wednesday evening, September 7 (TBD) and Thursday morning September 8 from 6:00 – 7:00 AM. The run will start at the Grand America Hotel lobby and go through downtown Salt Lake City to City Creek Canyon, an area closed to car traffic with a paved path that runs alongside a stream. We will then return to the hotel on the same route. Runners must sign a release of liability form in the hotel lobby before the run.

Content - How do I win prizes?

Within the HAS 16 app, you will have a few different ways to accumulate points including participating in the Analytics Walkabout, posting photos on the photo wall, answering polls, submitting your questions and exchanging contact information with others, to name a few. For those fierce competitors out there, a leaderboard will show attendee point totals. You will be able to win one of several Apple Watches.

Content - Can you tell me what content you are offering Health Catalyst clients?

On Tuesday, September 6 starting at 4:00 PM, we will have content specifically for Health Catalyst clients. You can find all the details here, but to provide a brief summary, we will share product roadmap details here and solicit feedback on what is working and what we can improve. We will also have multiple best practice clinical and technical presentations from Health Catalyst experts as well as client panels.  All Health Catalyst clients are cordially invited to attend.

Content – Can you tell me about this year’s Analytics Walkabout?

This year’s Analytics Walkabout will again feature 32 different outcomes improvement success story stations staffed by health system front-line leaders who can explain in person about these improvement projects.  This gives you an opportunity to meet and have up close and personal discussions about what worked and how it was accomplished. 

The Analytics Walkabout will be open at two times:
Tuesday September 6, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday September 7, from 7:15 – 8:30 a.m.

Content - How many Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits can be awarded to clinicians participating in HAS 16?

MDs and DOs  who attend HAS 16 , starting with the Analytics Walkabout , are eligible to receive 17.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™.  For those MDs and DOS, who attend the pre-summit activities, total credits will amount to a maximum of 24.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™.  All other healthcare professionals will receive a certificate of attendance and should consult with their licensing board for information on applicability and acceptance of these credits.

Content - How will the CME credits be awarded?

Each attendee will receive a hard copy Record of Attendance (ROA) at registration to track their hours and keep for their own records. Instructions will be included in the ROA on how to access the CME website for evaluations and certificates. Only MDs and DOs will self-claim their credits, meaning they will use their ROA to track their hours and have it available (with total number of credits) when they log in to the post-conference tab.

All other attendees will log in to the same location but they will not self-claim; the number of credits on their Certificate of Attendance will default to the maximum number of credits available for the conference. 

Last year’s HAS 15 summit was awarded 24.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™ and we expect a similar number to be approved this year.

All attendee records are maintained by the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, Office of CME, for a maximum period of 6 years.

Content - How does voting on the submitted questions work?

This year, you can submit your questions to the presenter and vote for your favorite questions. The questions then move up and down in ranked order based on audience votes. The end result is that the session hosts will ask presenters the questions that are most popular with attendees. We think this is a smart way to identify issues you care most about.

The dress will be business casual. So no dresses, business suits, jackets or ties are required. We want this to be comfortable, yet professional.

Your summit registration includes admission to all keynote and breakout sessions and hands-on training. It also includes all general receptions, evening entertainment, and conference meals.

Yes. After you register online, you will receive an email confirmation of your registration.

Registration - Can I bring a guest?

Absolutely. Your guest will need to be registered for the summit.

Registration - Is my reservation transferable?

Yes. If you register and pay but are unable to attend, you can transfer your registration to a colleague from your company. Submit all transfer requests to or call 877-749-8824.

Registration - Does the registration fee include air transportation and hotel accommodations?

All costs for air transportation and hotel accommodations are the responsibility of the attendee.

Registration - What if I have to cancel?

We understand things happen. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to If you need to cancel more than 30 days prior to the event, please get in touch with us for a full refund at Less than 30 days prior to an event, we begin to incur variable costs in order to hold your seat. Still email us and we can discuss what costs we have incurred and we will work with you to give back any funds that have not already been spent. Less than 10 days in advance of the event, we cannot issue a refund. All cancellations made on or before 10 days in advance of the event are subject to a cancellation fee of US$50.
